On-page Site SEO check list
Page
Each page should be optimzed for one main keyword or phrase that is the most relevant for that page.
Your Page Title (The page title provides a description of what the page is about)
The page title shoud contain the main keyword phrase for the page
The page title should be no longer than 70 characters

Meta Desription (The meta description is what will show up on the search engine results page)
It should contain the relevant keyword phase
It should contain no longer than 150 characters
Meta keywords (Meta keywords is a list of keywords relevant to the web page)
The meta keyword tag shoud contain approximatley 5 relevant keyword phrases only
Each keyword should be similar to each other for a page
Separate each keyword by commas,
URL's
URL's should contain main page keyword i.e http//www.yoursite.com/main-keyword.html

Navigation throughout your site should be easy
Use relavent keywords in anchortext
Content
Continue to add more content to achieve higher rankings
Content should be of good quality, unique and relevant
Update content regularly
Headings
Use heading tags for page and section headings
Heading tags should contain keywords for the page
The main heading tag should contain the main keyword for the page
Keyword In Content
Keywords should appear as close to the top of the page as possible
bold, italicise and underline important keyword phrases
Images
Images should be named accurately
Always use alternative text in each image
Use relevant keyword in each image if possible
Outbond linking
Add links to relevant authority sites
Sitemaps
Provide a sitemap on your site
A sitemap should contain text links
A sitemap should link to all important pages on your site
XML sitemaps
Provide a XML sitemap on your site
Specify the location of your XML sitemap in your robots.txt file

The robots.txt file is used by the search engine robots to determine what to do when they reach your website like which parts of your site to visit and which to avoid
use Disallow; to define sections that shouln't be crawled

choose one url for your site: http://www.mysite.com or http://mysite.com
use a 301 redirect should to redirect one url to the other
NoFollow
The NoFollow link attribute is used to tell the search engines not to follow a link
Use the NoFollow attribute on non important pages like private policy and terms and conditions
NoIndex
The NoIndex header attribute should be added to any pages that you don't want the search engines to index
