Successful Website Building Tips
Essential Web Pages For Any New Website Or Affiliate Website...
Here as an overview you should always try and include when you create a website, including the following pages in any affiliate website you create will seriously increase your websites "On-Page SEO", helping your site to rank quicker and better within all the search engines:
Home Page:
Ideally, the home page should be a combination of a short explanation about your site, a product review (or reviews), some type of social proof, 2 keyword-rich articles as well as external and internal links.
Contact Page:
Create and add a relevant email address to this page. Choose a ‘Gmail’ address which contains your main keywords such as bodybuildingexercises@googlemail.com or an email on your domain such as support@bodybuildingexercises.com
Privacy Page:
You will need to add a privacy policy as this also helps both with Search Engine rankings and Quality Score and you can find a sample one that you can work with here: Privacy Policy Sample Page. It is actually preferable and beneficial to have a ‘machine readable’ privacy policy and you can find one set out here:

Terms of Service Page:
Article Pages:
Either integrate 'Wordpress Direct' or add between two and four relevant and unique articles on separate
pages within your site and link to them from your home page as well as all internal pages. You could either
write these articles yourself or like a lot of people do, is have them professional written (qiute cheaply as
Your New Websites Layout and Design…
The home page of your affiliate website not only needs to be optimized
correctly to rank well, it also needs to be set out in the correct way and look
professional.
The reason why this is so important is that you need to create
an immediate impression on the visitor by making your website appear to be
an authority on the market in question which in turn will boost the chances of
making sales or conversions.
In my opinion, this is why many affiliates have a tough time making sales as
the whole point of a review or ‘authority’ site is to convey experience and create
a sense of trust. If the site looks bad (like most affiliate ‘templates’ that are sold
do) this is not going to happen and your sales are going to suffer as a result.
9 Affiliate Landing Page Elements You Should Use...
In this section I'm going to run through a series of elements that you should try to use in your affiliate landing pages and websites. Which ones you use depends on the type of site you are creating and the product(s) that you are promoting, but try to integrate as many as you deem sensible and make sense in the context of your promotion and content.
1. A Headline…
As with any page, the headline is easily most important aspect because it is your one and only chance to grab the visitor’s attention to make sure they read the rest of the page. Something short but smart which effectively outlines the major benefits of the product in just a few words will draw the visitor in as soon they open the webpage.
For a 'fat loss' page, something like this would be effective depending on the product you are promoting:
"Lose 9lbs in 11 Days Using A Diet Plan That Was Discovered By Accident"
2. A Sense of Urgency…
Create a sense of urgency by making it clear that unless they take action NOW they’ll be missing out on something VALUABLE. For instance, they’d have to pay an additional $97 if they returned to the page tomorrow; or that there are only 7 or 8 bonuses (that you are using as an incentive) remaining… Or that the offer ends at ‘midnight tonight’ which you can back up by using a date script that changes automatically each day.
3. Trust & Credibility…
There are a number of different ways to emphasize this point by joining up with various online companies, such as www.honestEonline.com or www.Truste.org who will provide you with a selection of small graphics to place on your page.
4. Images & Pen Names…
Placing a picture or photo on your landing page is crucial because if the visitor can ‘see’ who’s writing the review, it creates a sense of trust which means there’s more chance of them taking action.
I’ve done split tests before comparing conversions between pages with photos and those without and invariably the one with a photo converts best. However, having said that, this process isn’t quite as simple as putting up any old photo. You have to choose the correct one and what you go for depends entirely on the niche you’re promoting.
For instance in the health and dieting niche, the vast majority of buyers are women so it would make sense to use a female pen name and include a photo of a women to represent yourself.
Also, it goes without saying but make sure you include images of the product you're promoting.
5. Logos…
Including famous logos or brands on your site will also create instant trust and credibility when someone visits and there are a couple of instances and ways in which you can do this effectively.
The first is when you are reviewing a product which contains logos on their website to increase sales. If this is the case you can display them on your site too when you are reviewing the product in question as will be an accurate representation of the exposure that the product has received. For instance if I were to promote this British diet pill company: http://www.proactol.co.uk , I would include the logo's of the national newspapers that they have on their site.
The second way is to submit a press release about your website using www.PRweb.com and the chances are you will appear on the websites of some famous brands and news sites. The Forbes website, for instance, sometimes automatically adds press releases from online PR distribution companies and they remain in their archives for a couple of months. I’ve been on there numerous times via a press release. You can then say "as seen" on the Forbes website, which you have been.
Note: You can find out how to write an effective press release here: http://www.ereleases.com/howtowrite.html.
6. Proof...
Proof is also a very important element for an affiliate landing page although the type of proof you provide obviously depends on the market. With stuff like weight loss and internet marketing it's easy as you can provide before and after shots of weight loss (if they are real) or screenshots of income that you generated online.
7. Testimonials...
Generally you only find testimonials on sales pages. However, having one on an affiliate landing page can dramatically boost the response to your offer and the click thru's to the sales page of the product you are promoting.
8. Product Reviews & Story Telling...
Some affiliates seem to review at least 4 products on a pre-sell page, but in my opinion 2 (or 3 at the most) is a better number in most instances as people don’t like making choices.
The way I position my reviews is to include benefits, results and even the downsides of each product as including negatives is a highly effective strategy, again making the whole thing more believable.
You should also try and integrate a 'story' whenever you can. The fact is that ‘story telling’ sells and if you can integrate a ‘story’ into your review then you’ll have much more success because it’ll motivate people to take action. You should always revolve it around the ‘solution’ that you’ve found for the ‘problem’. Having said that, the story HAS to be believable and there’s no point in exaggerating too much unless you can back it up with some sort of proof.
The other thing you should do is to make yourself out to be an expert in the field. There are a number of ways you can do this and where possible you should try and mention some of the following:
- Your ‘experience in the industry’…. in other words let people know that your opinions and views can be trusted.
- Your ‘regular subscribers’... which implies that there are many other people listening to your ‘words and wisdom’.
- Your experiences and initial failures in the area which will make people relate to you.
- The fact you've been continually asked to do 'this review' for a number of months. In other words, there have been a lot of people asking you to express your opinions on the subject.
9. A Conclusions...
Depending on how you’ve formatted your review page, this part isn’t absolutely necessary. However, I sometimes find it helps to put a “conclusion” at the end of your page.
